Through the cacophony of player’s voices in the casino you hear “I just bet a dime, he did a nickel and now that chalkeater over there needs to be 86ed because he is lessening my comp.” This leaves you with many questions hanging in the casino air.

Gambling has a lingo all its own, and if you are a regular casino joe or josette you need to know it.

  • Betting a dime means a player just laid down $1000.
  • Betting a nickel means the other player just laid down a $500 bet.
  • Chalkeaters are gamblers who only bet on the favorites which by the way is irritating to other players. Grrrrrrrr!
  • 86ed is not a favorite Las Vega sex position, but a term casinos use for undesirable players they are looking at excluding.
  • comp is any of the numerous freebies available such as food, drink, and dining based on wagering time and play time.

Let’s translate gambler’s lingo into the vernacular shall we? I bet $1000 and he bet $500, and now that player bet only on the favorite again, grrrrrrr. He needs to be thrown out of here because I really would like to earn that mai tai drink and lap dance.
